Tips to make yourself a breakfast person

Make it happen. Stop procrastinating about this; the facts are indisputable - if you want to lose weight and maintain that loss you are going to eat a healthy breakfast every day. If you aren’t hungry in the mornings, you’re probably eating too late in the evenings, which is another major obstacle to weight loss. Try not to eat after 7pm.

Make it easy for yourself - set yourself up for success; make sure you have the right food you need for a proper breakfast in the cupboard and the fridge. Be organised when you shop and always work from a list.

Make the effort. If you skip breakfast because you don’t think you have the time for it, get up a bit earlier. Just a little bit. Try to allow yourself time to sit at the table and eat at a reasonable pace; chew your food. Don’t hop around the kitchen with one shoe on, shouting at people with a piece of wholewheat toast in your mouth.

Make it tasty. If you really don’t like porridge, you won’t want to get up early to eat it. Be realistic about what you will munch on in the mornings, because you’re making positive changes to your lifestyle permanently.

Make it simple. Start with fairly easy foods, because you’re unlikely to turn into a masterchef first thing in the morning. You can always get a bit more creative if you have the time and the inclination.

Make it a habit - just keep doing it every morning and before long, it’ll be as automatic as brushing your teeth. It takes about 21 days to create and ingrain a habit. This is an excellent lifestyle choice, because a good breakfast is the cornerstone to a healthy diet. After a while you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it, and see how it’s the most simple, effective solution to help you lose weight- and keep it off!
